A markup of the Consumer Financial Protection Act in the House Energy and Commerce Committee has been announced for Thursday. This bill, which creates a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) will cover many issues impacting the FTC as well. The FTC is the most important regulatory agency regulating advertising and therefore has great significance to the whole advertising community and to the economy in general.
We have provided a letter to the Committee discussing our serious concerns with the proposed changes in this area.
