ANA filed comments with Dr. Barbara Schneeman, the U.S. delegate to the 34
th Session of the Codex Committee on Food Labeling. The Committee will be considering, among other items, whether to include a definition of advertising in the terms of the Codex Guidelines for the Use of Nutrition and Health Claims. Our comments urge the delegation not to support including a definition of advertising in Codex, stating that these definitions are best left up to individual nations to develop based on their social, cultural, and educational standards.
