ANA has sent a letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee in opposition to Senator Sam Brownback's (R-KS) proposed amendments to the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill regarding indecent and violent television content.
Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), Chairman of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee, in a letter to the Appropriations Committee, stated that he is opposing the amendments because he is "aggressively preparing" legislation in his committee on these issues in order to carry out these purposes in a more constitutional manner.
We will be monitoring the progress of Senator Brownback's amendments and Senator Inouye's initiative. If you have any questions, please contact Dan Jaffe in ANA's Washington office at 202-296-2359 or at djaffe@ana.net.
