John Feldman is a partner in the Entertainment and Media Industry Group, assisting brands and advertisers to achieve commercial goals by providing counsel and representation for advertising and unfair competition issues, including false advertising; regulatory issues surrounding promotions such as sweepstakes, contests, loyalty programs and other sales incentives; and related intellectual property matters. He has been an active contributor to the Brand Activation Association for more than 25 years and served on its board of directors for six years. Among the subset of advertising lawyers who focus on promotional devices and consumer behavior, Mr. Feldman distinguishes himself by routinely offering advice on an international basis, utilizing Reed Smith’s global platform and a network of carefully selected international colleagues. Other areas of concentration include extensive experience before the National Advertising Division, and he regularly advises clients on regulatory investigations before the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general. Combining an IP background with his advertising and regulatory practice, John also bridges into privacy and security counseling, and he represents several innovative app publishers and service providers who are developing new and disruptive ways to effectuate commercial activation.
