Rick Ramirez serves as Warner Bros. Pictures Senior Vice President, Targeted Marketing, as part of the Worldwide Marketing department. He is responsible for overseeing specialized marketing efforts—Hispanic, African American and Asian American audiences—for all feature films released under the studio’s banner in the areas of creative advertising, publicity, promotions and interactive. Ramirez has broadened the studio’s scope in the area of Targeted Marketing to now include customized campaigns involving age, faith, and lifestyle based efforts.
He worked on the final two Harry Potter movies that brought the blockbuster franchise to an epic conclusion, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.” He also worked on such films as Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows,” Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby,” Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” Guillermo del Toro’s “Pacific Rim” and Alfonso Cuaron’s “Gravity.” Some significant campaigns on which he is currently working include: “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” “300: Rise of an Empire” and “Godzilla.”
From 2003 to 2010, Ramirez served in various capacities at Fox Entertainment Group and its parent News Corporation. In his last position at Fox, Ramirez served as Vice President of Marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, where he spearheaded multicultural marketing across all brands (New Release, Catalogue, Acquisitions, Direct-to-Video and TV). Previous to that, Ramirez served as Vice President of Emerging Markets where he participated in the development of multicultural business initiatives and strategies that engaged him in the full scope of the entertainment enterprise including broadcast television, cable television, station affiliate group, motion pictures, home entertainment, publishing, newspaper, digital and social media.
Prior to Fox, Ramirez was Vice President of Phil Roman Entertainment, where he managed development, production and business affairs for animated and live-action television series, specials and motion picture projects. In addition, he oversaw all aspects of deal structuring, financing and distribution. While the company targeted a mainstream audience, Ramirez also shepherded Latino-themed feature projects. Prior to joining Phil Roman Entertainment, he served as a producer for the Galavisión cable network.
A native of El Paso, Texas, Ramirez holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, and a J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law. Ramirez began his professional career in Dallas, Texas, as an attorney practicing corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings and business start-ups.
