James studied Graphic Design and Typography at Batley Art School, West Yorkshire, England. He and a friend started their own design agency, "ATTIK", which grew over the next 25 years to have offices in Leeds, London, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sydney. In 2004, ATTIK was recognized by The Queen of England, (at Buckingham Palace) for their contribution to British Design.
James joined The Coca-Cola Company in 2013 and has delivered key global projects such as: Coca-Cola One Brand Strategy-global Identity; Taste The Feeling OOH; “Beverages for Life” visual identity; Global visual identity systems – South Africa 2010, London 2012, Brasil 2014, Rio 2016, FIFA 2018 (…currently working on Tokyo 2020), and many more.
James is currently extending his role and applying Design-Thinking methodology and process to organizational design, articulating company culture, and rapid ideation with key customers through ‘design sprints’ generating ideas for exponential growth. He also sits on the Advisory Board of University of Huddersfield (UK) where he advises start-ups, graduates and young designers seeking to develop a career in the global design industry.
