Ross M. Weisman is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He is the head of Kirkland’s advertising, marketing and promotions practice (nationally recognized in the 2017 editions of Chambers USA and The Legal 500 United States as a leading practice in this area). Mr. Weisman has extensive experience defending and challenging advertising claims in federal court under 43(a) of the Lanham Act, as well as before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus. In 2017, he was recognized as a leading lawyer in Chambers USA and The Legal 500 United States for his advertising and marketing litigation work. Ross is a frequent speaker regarding advertising and promotions law topics. He has spoken at several Brand Activation Association (formerly Promotion Marketing Association) Law Conferences in the past. He is a member of the Illinois and New Hampshire Bar Associations and the American Bar Association, and received his Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University in 1988 and graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Law in 1993.
