Lan's route to the ANA has not been a traditional one; she began her career as a high school teacher and gang prevention counselor working with at-risk teens in Oakland, California. She later founded and managed the Hype Agency-an integrated music marketing company-connecting brands such as Nike, Adidas, Levi's, and GAP with musicians and producers from across the globe. During the last seven years, Lan spent three years on the client side at The Cannery at Del Monte Square, followed by four years on the agency side, first at McCann Worldgroup and later at Ignited, LLC. Her past clients include Microsoft, The United States Army, The United States Olympic Committee (Paralympics Program), Booz Allen Hamilton, and San Francisco Fashion Week. In the last two years, Lan's account and creative teams have been recognized three separate times (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) by the North America Effies, the country's most prestigious advertising awards for innovative and effective client campaigns.
Lan has over 14 years of integrated marketing experience in verticals such as entertainment, technology, lifestyle, retail, government recruitment, music, and travel. She has extensive experience in account management, communication strategy development, and direct marketing. As a result, Lan is able to provide a 360-degree marketing viewpoint for her clients, and is able to develop "out-of-the-box" integrated marketing strategies that are targeted and measurable.
She holds a BA in Psychology from Stanford University and a Master's in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Most recently, Lan obtained a Master's Certificate in Integrated Internet Marketing from the University of San Francisco.
