    Richard Holt
    Founder and Chief Creative Officer
    M5 Communications

Richard Holt is a highly regarded Creative Director who has developed breakthrough, brand-building ideas for major advertisers. Highlights include a top ten Super Bowl spot for Tylenol; awards for Kix, Cheerios and Total; corporate branding for all of Procter & Gamble and award-winning work for Pampers.

He began his career as a copywriter at J. Walter Thompson in New York. He then moved to Dancer Fitzgerald Sample, which ultimately evolved into Saatchi & Saatchi New York. As one of the agency’s key Creative Directors, he worked on Toyota, General Mills, P&G, and J&J. Often sought after when accounts are in trouble, or in need of a new look, he has an unusual ability to align strategic insights with timeless storytelling. Many of his “kid-tested, mother-approved” commercials for Kix have become popular classics. And his multi-award winning campaign for Relenza (using Newman from Seinfeld as the Flu) has been one of the most acclaimed in all of pharmaceutical advertising.

Richard is the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of M5 Communications, a New York-based consultancy which provides branding and creative services for a variety of corporate and non-profit organizations. He is active in the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America, for whom he is creating an architectural travel guide. And he works with The Nantucket Preservation Trust, to help protect that island’s unique character.

A graduate of Brown University, with a Master’s from Wesleyan, he has also taught English at The Cranbrook School in Michigan. The father of two grown sons, he lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife, Barbara.
