For December’s meeting, Loeb & Loeb LLP’s presentation will include: (i) a federal and state regulatory update; (ii) a discussion of recent federal false advertising cases; and (iii) a review of recent NAD, ERSP and CARU cases.  Presenting will be Caroline Hudson, Ryan Martin, and Idara Udofia.

Caroline Hudson, Associate, focuses her practice on marketing, promotions, and privacy matters, and advises clients on the latest developments in intellectual property law, digital advertising, social media platforms, and mobile devices. Caroline also leverages her knowledge of key legal considerations relevant to the food, beverage, and dietary supplements industries to provide guidance on labeling, claim substantiation questions, and other regulatory issues.

Caroline regularly advises brands, advertising agencies, and media and technology companies on sweepstakes, contests, advertising clearance, and claim substantiation, as well as issues involving social media and user-generated content. She has extensive experience negotiating talent, sponsorship, licensing, and media technology agreements. In addition, Caroline represents clients in disputes before the National Advertising Division (NAD), the Online Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program (OIBAAP), and broadcast television networks.

Ryan Martin, Associate, focuses his practice on trademark, marketing, promotions, advertising, copyright, privacy and other intellectual property matters.

In the areas of marketing and promotions, Ryan regularly advises clients on advertising clearance and claim substantiation, social media and user-generated content, sweepstakes, and contests.  Additionally, Ryan assists consumer brands and advertising agency clients in the drafting and negotiation of sponsorship agreements, branded entertainment and media deals, celebrity talent and influencer agreements, and the licensing of music, trademarks, and other intellectual property. He assists brands with trademark portfolio management and has handled internet domain name disputes under the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy. He has also represented numerous clients in advertising disputes before the National Advertising Division of the BBB.

Idara Udofia, Associate, focuses on intellectual property, specifically advertising, marketing and trademark law and data privacy. Idara’s experience includes drafting and negotiating artist, broadcasting, sponsorship and other commercial agreements as well as talent releases and trademark, software, music, photography and film licenses. She also assists in advising clients on First Amendment and data privacy compliance issues. Idara has experience managing domestic and international trademark portfolios for consumer brands. She counsels clients on optimizing and monetizing their portfolio.
