For February’s meeting, Crowell & Moring will present on recent FTC enforcement actions, NAD/CARU decisions, false advertising litigation (Lanham Act and Class Actions), and privacy.  Lauren Aronson, Peter Miller, Joshua Foust and Chalana Williams will be presenting.

Lauren Aronson, Counsel, is an Advertising & Product Risk Management counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Washington, D.C. office. Lauren represents clients across a variety of industries in advertising and marketing law. She has assisted numerous clients in initiating and defending false advertising challenges before the National Advertising Division (NAD) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB), the National Advertising Review Board (NARB), and the Electronic Retailing Self-Regulation program (ERSP), and has provided counsel in Lanham Act suits. Lauren has also represented clients in investigations and actions brought by the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general relating to marketing and sales practices.

Peter Miller, Senior Counsel, Advertising & Product Risk Management and Privacy & Cybersecurity groups in Washington, D.C. Peter supports, counsels, and advocates for clients using his familiarity with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) consumer protection policies, practices, and procedures; his experience with consumer protection investigations, litigation, and settlement negotiations; and his knowledge of operational privacy, data security, federal procurement, and risk management issues.

Josh Thomas Foust, Counsel, in the San Francisco office and is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Advertising & Product Risk Management (APRM) groups. Josh practice is focused on consumer fraud and false advertising actions, class action defense, breach of contract and warranty cases, complex commercial litigation, financial services and securities litigation, and bankruptcy litigation. He has advised clients in the consumer products, financial services, accounting, insurance, technology, manufacturing, and retail sectors, among others, both in the U.S. and abroad.

Chalana Williams, Associate, Advertising & Product Risk Management and Antitrust groups. Chalana provides litigation and counseling services with a focus on consumer protection matters, as well as the substantiation and defense of advertising claims. She counsels clients on compliance with statutes and regulations enforced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Federal Trade Commission. Chalana also has experience assisting both challengers and advertisers in disputes before the National Advertising Division (NAD), as well as defending false advertising and trademark disputes in federal court.
