IV. FTC Concerns re “Up To” claims (11:30 – 12:00 pm)
The FTC recently released a study on "up to" claims about products in advertisements - claims that consumers will see a savings from their use of the advertised product "up to" a certain percentage or dollar amount. The study found that consumers often believe that they will receive the maximum benefit described in the ad. Paul Franz from Procter & Gamble will discuss how this is a departure from previous FTC guidance.
