The Legal Affairs Committee has been formed under the auspices of Douglas Wood, ANA General Counsel, and Dan Jaffe, ANA Executive Vice President. Its charter is broad - to address, discuss, and seek solutions to the myriad of legal issues advertisers' face that relate to challenges to their advertising content and practices.
This committee also holds an annual Advertising Law and Business Affairs Conference in New York City.

- Protecting advertisers' free speech rights and confronting laws, regulatory initiatives, and lawsuits attacking established advertising practices
- Legal challenges confronting the business side of the industry: managing relationships with advertising agencies and media, claims for copyright and trademark infringement, violations of rights of privacy and publicity, idea misappropriation, and deceptive comparative advertising
