Terrell McSweeny Confirmed by Senate to FTC

Terrell McSweeny was confirmed on April 9th on a 95-1 vote to be a commissioner of the Federal Trade Commission. This brings the FTC back up to a full five-person commission for the first time in over a year. McSweeny, who was originally nominated by President Obama in June 2013, is a former aide to Vice President Joe Biden.

It will be interesting to see, now that the Democrats have a three vote to two advantage at the FTC, whether the Commission will become more active in areas that would affect the advertising industry.

The sole vote against her nomination was cast by Senator David Vitter (R-LA).
