Advertising Trade Groups Provide Input to House Committee on FCC Privacy Proposal

In advance of today’s House Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology hearing entitled, “FCC Overreach: Examining the Proposed Privacy Rules,” ANA and 10 other advertising and business groups sent a letter to the committee explaining our concerns with the FCC’s proposal. In the letter, we state that FCC’s NPRM would create restrictions that are unnecessary, overly burdensome, and outside the FCC’s statutory authority. We are hopeful that Congress will work to counteract this restrictive proposal and are encouraged to see that several lawmakers, most recently including Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ), have already spoken out against the FCC’s plan.
