Ruth P. Stevens
Ruth Stevens consults on customer acquisition and retention for both consumer and business-to-business clients. Ruth serves on the board of directors of Edmund Optics, Inc. She is a trustee of Princeton-In-Asia, past chair of the Business-to-Business Council of the Direct Marketing Association, and past president of the Direct Marketing Club of New York. Ruth was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Marketing by Crain’s BtoB magazine and one of 20 Women to Watch by the Sales Lead Management Association.
Ruth is a guest blogger at HBR.org and Biznology and is the author of two business books, Maximizing Lead Generation: The Complete Guide for B2B Marketers and Trade Show and Event Marketing. She teaches marketing to graduate students at Columbia Business School, and has taught at NYU’s Stern School of Business, Rutgers, Singapore Management University, Helsinki School of Economics, Australian Graduate School of Management and Duke Corporate Education. Ruth is a sought-after speaker and trainer and has presented to audiences and business schools in Asia, Australia and Latin America. She has studied marketing management at Harvard Business School and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University.
Ruth began her direct marketing career in 1986 at Time Warner, where she spent seven years in marketing, new business development, and general management at Book-of-the-Month Club and Time-Life Books. She then went to Ziff-Davis as vice president of marketing for the computer library, the electronic publishing division. Starting in 1996, she spent three years in direct marketing management at IBM and then worked in senior marketing positions at two Internet startup companies in New York City before starting her consulting and training company in 2000.
