Director, B2B Division

Founded in 1910, the ANA provides leadership that advances marketing excellence and shapes the future of the industry. The ANA's membership includes more than 1,000 companies with 15,000 brands that collectively spend or support more than $400 billion in marketing and advertising annually. The membership is comprised of more than 750 client-side marketers and 300 associate members, which include leading agencies, law firms, suppliers, consultants, and vendors. Further enriching the ecosystem is the work of the nonprofit ANA Educational Foundation (AEF), which has the mission of enhancing the understanding of advertising and marketing within the academic and marketing communities.

ANA is looking for a dynamic, experienced self-starter who understands marketing and advertising, enjoys change and challenge and seeks out learning what’s just ahead of the curve. We currently have a need for a Director to serve as a key operational deliverer of the products and services that the B2B division will provide to its members. This position requires a highly flexible and organized work style approach and the ability to multitask with world-class communication skills keeping everyone on track. The ANA’s B2B division is driven to delight, provide inspiration, educate and enable member connectivity to ANA marketers who work in ANA B2B companies or B2B divisions via products and services. We also intend to elevate B2B marketing overall. In 2018, we will embark on a “startup” mindset to achieve these goals. The opportunity is to be built on the reality that many of the ANA’s greatest companies are B2B organizations housing talent and world-class marketing that need to be mined, socialized and celebrated. We believe that leveraging these assets will help contribute to the transformation of the ANA’s reputation from an “advertising” trade association to a “marketing” association. The structure of the B2B division team is built to deliver an approved scope of services that cover the following areas. Each one of these is being rebuilt as new and fresh products and services to engage and delight ANA marketers who work in B2B companies and divisions.

Job Description

A. Committees

The B2B Committee is being reignited with a new mission and purpose. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Supervising the building and implementation of a new vision for B2B committee
  • Renew the Planning Committee meetings/preparing agendas, identify topics, recruit speakers, handle meeting logistics, host/run meetings, post-meeting follow-up
  • Conducting research (e.g., member surveys) to help enhance understanding of member challenges and issues
  • Driving meeting attendance with new approaches
  • Recruiting new committee members
  • Supporting benchmarking and best practices requests from members
  • Creating industry leadership white papers, surveys, etc.
  • Regular analysis of the committee portfolio (adding, deleting, evolving committees)

B. Conferences

1. Masters of B2B Marketing

  • Support and own elements of programming, execution, and promotion of the Masters of B2B marketing. While a substantial majority of CMO speaker solicitation will be led by the VP and EVP, speaker engagement and follow-ups will be required.
  • Extensive duties such as speaker pipeline identification, programming coordination, speaker preparation and identification, marketing, promotion and sponsor integration will be an important component of position

2. Member Only Conferences

  • Extensive speaker outreach duties and programming role in delivering four first-rate Member Only Conferences.
  • Primary role in marketing and working with membership in securing ANA member sites to hos MOCs

C. Webinars

  • Oversee and execute monthly B2B webinar program

D. ANA Internal Collaboration

  • Forge strong collaborative relationships with the ANA’s capability centers including IT, Marketing and Communications, Membership, Sponsorship, School of Marketing, Analytics Center of Excellence (ACE) and the Masters Circle

E. B2 Awards

  • Lead and own the execution and management of the ANA’s B2 awards – the premier awards for marketers in the B2B industry. Manage submission, judging, and integration of the awards ceremony at the annual conference

F. Chapter Management

  • Engage periodically with chapter leaders and run quarterly calls. Ensure collaborative, productive and efficient relationship in line with service agreement.
  • Run annual chapter day in June

G. Content Mining and Development

  • The B2B division is committed to aggressively mining ANA companies for marketing case studies and stories that can be mined and shared at events.
  • Work closely with membership and the Marketing Knowledge Center to uncover and to write up as potential material for conferences and committees
  • Minimum 5-7 years client-side marketing or relevant agency experience
  • Strong working knowledge of advertising, marketing, and marketing strategy.
  • Strong business writing, communication, and above-average interpersonal skills
  • An outgoing, service-oriented attitude is critical
  • Consistent willingness to go above and beyond to deliver world-class service
  • Strong group presentation skills; equally comfortable communicating to a broad spectrum of job titles
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic and tactical plans
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and being hands-on managing members.
  • Highly organized, detailed, accurate with very effective time management skills.
