Job Description:

Avnet’s newly formed global editorial team is a team of content creators, each with our own specialty. The social media strategist is on the front lines on Avnet’s global social media accounts and in communities as our chief listener. This role also supports the various external marketing content and social media needs of designated business groups.  Such activities may include the following as well as other duties as assigned:


Principal Responsibilities:
  • Manages scheduling and posting for all Avnet global social media accounts according to editorial calendar. Coordinates with global and regional leads on social media marketing campaigns, including organic and paid.
  • Rapidly produces compelling content that reflects the organization’s key messaging, including copy, imagery, graphics, video, and audio. Ensures content is consistent with organization’s writing and brand guidelines as well as its optimization strategy.
  • Implements online listening strategy, coordinating responses to questions and feedback on all social media channels within 24 hours. Reports social media issue escalation and implements crisis communication as directed via social media.
  • Drives Avnet’s content curation strategy, including repurposing content from existing communities and user-generated content.
  • Ensure campaign content aligns with strategic plans, resonates with Avnet’s audience and reflects the organization’s brand voice while delivering upon agreements and deadlines.
  • Delivers reporting on overarching social media and community feedback and themes. Makes strategic recommendations based on data.
  • Serves as Avnet’s internal expert and advocate for social media listening.
  • Manages cost-efficient programs according to budget.  Determines and uses the most effective communication media to sell specific products or services.
  • Plans, implements and develops new marketing ideas and communications projects for business group and partners.
  • Provides guidance to businesses in developing and executing communications programs including product advertising.
  • Prepares communications material for internal and external use on products, services, business plans and management communications.
  • Leverages web marketing, trade show activity and other marketing efforts of other business units.

  • Actions impact the success of the overall department and sometimes the organization. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions will result in delays to projects, loss of revenue or allocation of additional resources to remedy.


Work Experience:
  • Typically 3-5 years with bachelor's or equivalent or 1-3 years with master's
  • 3+ years of experience in social media marketing, specifically managing social media programs in a global corporation, preferably with a hub and spoke regional business unit/franchise model
  • Passion for and solid knowledge of social media, including both paid and organic
  • Experience using social media management tools (preferably at the enterprise level)
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including knowledge of AP style and writing for the web
  • Sound judgment and commitment to editorial integrity
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, project management and execution skills
  • Portfolio of work demonstrates versatility across multiple formats
  • Experience in B2B marketing and/or digital marketing
  • Experience working in technology preferred


Education and Certification(s):
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
