We are currently hiring for our Head of E-Commerce in Boston, MA. 
 
E-Commerce is a developing function within Boston Beer Company’s (BBC’s) marketing department across all brands in the portfolio. The focus of this role is to elevate BBC’s e-retail and general digital commerce activity by creating best in class digital content and programs to enhance brand equity and engage drinkers on the e-tail channels of our retailers, as well as emerging digital commerce channels and apps. While reporting to Digital, this role works closely with Off-premise Sales Division, Divisional Marketing Managers, and Trade Activation. The Head of E-retail will be responsible for developing the organizational capabilities and processes, providing the best content and identifying the most relevant tools that will drive growth of the business and provide value to current and potential retailers. 
 
 
What You'll Do: 
  • Strategy, Roadmap and Execution 
    • Develop and implement e-retail strategy and roadmap, including quick wins and long term initiatives, addressing business priorities, company resources and industry dynamics; audit key retail accounts to inform roadmap and prioritization 
    • Drive integration of e-retail into key Brand and Region initiatives, including annual planning processes, content development, wholesaler and national account, meetings and brand activations 
    • Partner with Divisional Marketing Managers and Off-premise teams to drive best-in-class plans for e-retail initiatives 
    • Establish processes and milestones for measuring impact and identifying opportunities, including KPIs and long-term goals 

  • E-Retail Content and Tools 
    • Partner with Brand, Digital, Trade and Creative teams to drive best-in-class content, programming and e-retail tool development, including guidelines to drive a consistent approach across brands 
    • Identify opportunities for first-to-market / best-in-class content for e-retail environments. Strive for leadership among supplier content in e-retail. 
    • Support regions in roll-out and execution of e-retail content, training teams on the value of the “digital shelf”, as well as Content Guidelines and E-Retail Activation Guidelines 

  • E-Retailer Prioritization, Engagement and Partnership 
    • Partner with Off-Premise, Divisional and Brand Teams to drive agenda for engagement meetings with key regional e-retailers. Assess digital capability, strategic partnership opportunities and retailer priorities.
    • Develop retailer-facing presentations, materials and recommendations; audit websites and emerging platforms to define landscape and cultivate opportunities for programming. 

  • Insights & Measurement: 2017 and Beyond 
    • Partner with Brand, Sales, Strategy and Insights, Business Analysis, and Trade Activation to drve integration and develop e-retail objectives, KPIs, measurement scorecards, reporting and metrics to create a e-retail benchmarks (scale of opportunity), assess overall e-retail landscape, impact of activities, and (future) defined functional goals broadened beyond visibility 

  • Education + Training 
    • Develop and publish internal training and education materials, including e-retail basics, tips and tools and content guidelines for workshops with Brand, Off-premise and Divisional Teams, as well as Marketing Leadership meetings; test among distributor audiences 
    • Identify best practices, internally and externally, for continual enhancement of E-retail for BBC Subject Matter Expertise 
    • Go-to resource and e-retail/ecommerce subject matter expert within the organization 
    • Attendance and participation in leading e-commerce industry activities and conferences, including, establishing thought leadership for BBC and applying external learnings 
What We're Looking For:
  • Required:
    • Bachelor’s Degree required 
    • 10+ years experience in digital marketing with a recent focus on e-commerce 
    • Knowledge e-commerce trends, applications, tools and emerging platforms across the e-retail landscape 
    • Interpersonal and negotiation skills 
    • Experience working with retailers directly either through an in-house role or with an agency
  • Desired: 
    • Master’s Degree / MBA in Marketing or Marketing Research and Intelligence preferred 
    • Understanding of alcoholic beverage industry and the three-tiered system
