July shouts summer in the northern hemisphere, but it's also the halfway point in the year and follows the frenzy of the Cannes Ad Festival. It's a perfect time to carve out a few quiet hours to make sense of an industry in the throes of rapid change by delving beyond the obvious headlines and over-hyped buzzwords. In fact, while in Cannes, I asked nearly everyone I met to name five trends from converations at the Festival, along with at least one key industry issue that wasn't being discussed...which did cause quite a few people to stop and consider.
