    The Association of National Advertisers (ANA), located in Mid-town Manhattan, is seeking the following:

    Chief Technology Officer


    Basic Responsibilities
    • Manage daily operations of the Information Technology and Production Departments for all areas supporting business continuity including: Human Resources, Desktop Support, Engineering, Print and new media production, Vertical market applications, System development, Website maintenance, and System & support procurement.
    • Perform all business analysis, requirements definition, project management, coding, testing and production support for all development initiatives for internet and intranet websites, internal systems, and data warehousing initiatives.
    • Maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure including voice / data to ensure that operations are continuous and that staff and members enjoy an optimal experience.
    • Ensure that both the strategic and tactical directions for IT are aligned with the overall objectives and strategies of the organization.
    • Provide strategic vision concerning the direction and capabilities of IT to ensure that current and future business objectives are achievable given appropriate time and budgets.
    • Partner and consult with each business unit to address their maintenance and growth requirements and to prioritize new system development or procurement across all units.
    • Prepare, monitor, and maintain IT expense budget and hardware/software capital budgets.
    • Establish and maintain responsibility for all IT vendor contracts and relationships
    • Assess IT aspects of all business proposals and contracts to determine the cost, labor, feasibility and achievability of each initiative.
    • Create, maintain, monitor and update IT policies, guidelines and procedures including: email and use policy, information security, internet access
    • Research technologies and industry developments and advise senior management on the impact to current product and service offerings as well as growth opportunities
    • Anticipate industry changes to minimize issues and maximize opportunities
    Requirements
    • 10+ years relevant experience managing a technology department and the “business of technology” including demonstrated experience with:
      • Full software development lifecycles appropriate for a small, agile development groups
      • Understanding of corporate and network infrastructure including:
        • Access and routing
        • Email and PDA systems
        • Backup and disaster recovery
        • Virtual Private Networks
        • Voice and fax systems
      • Detailed business and impact analysis for technology initiatives
      • Business decision support and warehousing
      • Systems integration with vertical market applications
      • Strategic and visionary thinking and the ability to translate to achievable implementations
      • Metrics generation and reporting across a range of IT-centric initiatives
    • 7+ years web development experience including user interface design, system workflow, e-commerce transactions, systems integration, and production management
    • 4+ years hands-on PHP experience with concentration in PHP5, object-oriented development.
    • 3+ years experience developing for and administration of MySQL (Ver 5+)
    • Understanding of Microsoft SQL Server
    • Familiarity with the following:
      • MVC and Framework theory
      • COM objects
      • XML
      • IIS
      • LDAP and Active Directory
      • Mod_rewite and IIS equivalents
      • Flash and flash video

    MIC Research Specialist


    Marketing Insights Center

    Research is the cornerstone of ANA’s insights development. The Marketing Insights Center serves the ANA and its members as a major source of research knowledge. The team’s focus is to provide members with marketing information and insights they need to make better decisions, faster.

    Job Summary:

    This position works on intellectual capital development through multiple channels, reporting to the Vice President, Marketing Insights Center – ANA’s proprietary knowledge base. Be at the center of acquiring and creating content generated from our events, research initiatives and publications. Act as lead on content writing, editing and research and knowledge management within the organization. Responsible for creative opportunities to bundle or repurpose original / existing content. Look for creative ways to analyze ANA research and “connect the dots” across ANA’s intellectual capital

    Additional duties include: Maintain and cultivate external relationships with authors and third party contacts, bookstore management/maintenance, copy writing and editing.

    Responsibilities:
    1. Knowledge Creation/Management (70%)
      • Create approximately 90 Snapshots, original write-ups from ANA events
      • Manage Snapshot process and calendar and assign Snapshot to internal content writers making sure all Snapshots are covered
      • Review and edit Snapshots as needed
      • Lead “content quality assurance’ meetings – informally on a monthly basis and formally on a quarter basis.
      • Establish and maintain relationships with ANA authors, evaluate author proposals, create author contract
      • Edit and project manage books/workbooks (1-2); ensure the production and promotion of the book is executed successfully i.e. non-member newsletters, email blasts and conference binders
      • Edit and project manage white paper development (3-5)
      • Develop “Insights Briefs” (5-10) based on information request trends/gaps identified by MIC research team.
      • Collaborate with Web Content Specialist in identifying “Related Resource Links” and “Teaser Content” for website.
    2. Research (20%)
      • Support ANA/Guideline research initiative by editing white paper drafts, repurposing white papers to translate into MIC Content; identify MIC inquiries for the purpose of seeding questions into surveys; and providing relevant ANA content to be used as secondary research in papers.
      • Support MAPs initiative as needed by distilling and analyzing requests based on member’s long-term needs and by synthesizing data from primary and secondary sources into intelligent information used in strategic business decision making by the ANA membership.
      • Support VP in development of ANA Organizational Chart Collection, Procurement Community, and in repurposing content that comes out of our various publications.
    3. Online Publications Management (10%)
      • Manage business relationship between ANA and on demand publishing vendor -LuLu
      • Help achieve net sales of $20k in 2008 through promotion efforts
      • Develop and disseminate Weekly/Monthly sales reports of purchases and download activity
      • Manage book production (flowing, proofing, Lulu updating, upload and write descriptions for any/all new books)
    Qualifications:

    We seek highly motivated people with a strong record of performance and leadership. Experience requiring analytical or innovative problem-solving work is preferred, and an aptitude for strategic thinking is important. In addition, we place high value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, independence, energy, self-confidence and a commitment to quality. The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in information science (MLS) or related degree and 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring information analysis and interpretation. Specifically:

    • Desire to increase knowledge in the marketing/advertising industry.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
    • High level of curiosity about relevant strategic issues and information sources.
    • Strong writing skills. Good copy editing skills a plus.
    • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Familiarity with HTML code
    • Ability to work well in a team environment.
    • High degree of professionalism and integrity
    • High energy and results oriented.
    • Some travel is required attending ANA events outside of NYC
