ANA Opposes Advertising Provisions in Tobacco Bill

March 11, 2008

The House Energy and Commerce Committee's Health Subcommittee plans to complete a markup today of H.R. 1108, the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act.  This legislation contains extraordinarily sweeping rules relating to tobacco advertising.  ANA, along with the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) and the American Advertising Federation (AAF) has written to the members of the committee to discuss our concerns with the bill.  We also submitted testimony when the subcommittee held hearings on this bill late last year.

Dan Jaffe has also written an entry on his Regulatory Rumblings blog discussing this issue in more detail.
