In September 2014, the US population hit a tipping point: for the first time in history, Singles now outnumber Married adults.  But in spite of Singles’ majority, and their incredible power of choice and control –  they alone decide where to live, where to spend their money and how to spend their time – most category marketing plans across still center squarely on a “married” mindset.

TPN and C+R Research recognized this intriguing dichotomy and spent nearly a year talking with unmarried adults to learn how marketers can better understand and engage with singles – who we call The New Independents.
