Eric Baum currently serves as senior vice president, business and legal affairs for Sony Pictures worldwide marketing and distribution, and assistant general counsel, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc. He has responsibility for global marketing and distribution advertising, publicity, merchandising and licensing, media, promotions, virtual reality productions and product placement for theatrical motion picture releases by Screen Gems, TriStar and Columbia Pictures, including campaigns for Spider-Man, the Hotel Transylvania series and Jumanji. Mr. Baum is currently working on Holmes & Watson and Men in Black, among others. He joined Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) in 1994 as senior counsel in TriStar Pictures’ legal affairs group. Eric was named assistant general counsel for SPE and vice president of business and legal affairs for the Columbia TriStar Marketing Group in 1999. Prior to that time, Eric was an associate at the Law Offices of Sam Perlmutter, where he represented, among others: MGM and Pathé Entertainment, as well as individual producers, directors, writers, actors and musicians. Mr. Baum is a native of Berkeley, California. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Hastings College of the Law, San Francisco, California. Eric also teaches at the School of Theatre, Film and Television Producers Program, UCLA.
