Ellie Boragine is vice president and chief advertising counsel at American Express. Ms. Boragine leads the legal team supporting the global advertising and brand management (GABM) and consumer marketing groups, also serving as the subject matter expert on advertising law issues for the entire American Express business. Her wide-ranging practice includes counseling on campaign development and execution across all media; card member experiences; claim development and substantiation; branded entertainment; sports team and venue sponsorships; celebrity talent and social influencer engagements; special offers; endorsements and testimonials; sweepstakes and promotions; and consumer protection regulations. Prior to joining American Express, Ellie was advertising and commercial counsel at JetBlue Airways. In that role, she served as lead counsel for all advertising and marketing initiatives, the TrueBlue customer loyalty program, intellectual property matters and core customer-facing partnerships. Prior to her transition to the “in-house” world, Ms. Boragine was an associate in the advertising, marketing and public relations group at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz PC and in the intellectual property and media group at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. Ellie holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University.
