Cassandre Charles is Vice President, Brand Marketing, at ESSENCE magazine. In this role, she is responsible for leading the brand’s marketing initiatives and event sponsorship strategy—as well as bringing innovative advertising concepts to fruition, which include digital, native, insights and the expansion of our branded video offerings. In addition, she works closely with ESSENCE’s editorial team to develop unique 360 degree programs that will enable the ESSENCE sales teams to sell cutting-edge, custom advertising solutions.
Cassandre is an award-winning, passionate and performance driven digital media sales & marketing leader with more than 20 years of experience in managing multiple facets of client programs, including digital strategy development, campaign execution, implementation, analytics and reporting. Over the past decade, through strategic roles within Integrated Marketing and Sales Development, Cassandre has distinguished herself as a great leader and an invaluable asset to the brand. She has a stellar track record of delivering marketing projects from ideation to execution and meeting strict timelines with precision & accuracy by leveraging creative thinking to generate significant client satisfaction across various sectors. Her marketing and promotion prowess have garnered terrific results—including the introduction of Girls United in partnership with Ulta Beauty and the record-breaking success of the brand’s franchise platforms the Essence Festival, Black Women in Hollywood and Street Style.
Prior to joining ESSENCE, she served as Merchandising Director at SELF Magazine, where she strengthened market position and brand recognition through the skillful selection of innovative and creatively designed strategies that appealed to target customers. She also served in a variety of marketing positions at MORE Magazine, including Associate Promotion Manager.
