Matthew (Matt) Dornauer is the general counsel at Phusion Projects, a global alcohol beverage company based in Chicago. Mr. Dornauer is responsible for the company’s legal, compliance and regulatory matters, in addition to government affairs and risk management. Matthew also serves as a member of the executive leadership team. His primary areas of focus include corporate governance, commercial negotiations, complex commercial litigation, intellectual property portfolio management, labor and employment issues, marketing law compliance, alcohol regulation, and providing business and strategic advice to the executive leadership team. Prior to becoming the first general counsel of Phusion in 2013, Mr. Dornauer was employed at the Chicago office of international law firm Sidley Austin LLP, where he began working in 2009. He is licensed to practice in Illinois and received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School and his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, with distinction in political science from Ohio State University. Outside of his work at Phusion, Mr. Dornauer maintains an active pro bono legal practice, including teaching Chicago public school students about the U.S. legal system and the legal profession. Matt also serves as a mentor to law students in Notre Dame Law School’s Alumni Mentorship Program.
