Dave Green
Assistant General Counsel Open Innovation/Intellectual Property Group / Microsoft Corporation

Dave Green is assistant general counsel at Microsoft, where he leads the open innovation counseling team, which handles complex IP matters involving copyright, trade secret, data and related rights, and publicity rights that affect Microsoft’s devices, online services, and artificial intelligence (AI) platforms. Mr. Green also handles global copyright policy and is actively involved in copyright, trade secret, amicus, legislative, and related regulatory matters.

Previously, Mr. Green was assistant general counsel to Bill Gate’s privately-owned Corbis Corp. and also served as an assistant attorney general to the University of Washington on complex technology transfer, IP, and business issues.  

Mr. Green has taught IP Management at the University of Washington and was a past trustee of The Copyright Society. He also serves as executive producer on several film, TV, and book projects, including the best-selling “Max Einstein” book series, co-created with James Patterson and adapted for television with Imagine Entertainment, and the Cannes Classic award-winning film Steve McQueen – The Man & Le Mans.
