As associate general counsel and data protection officer for Unilever, Luis-Xavier Hernandez heads up the legal marketing group, which oversees the go-to-market strategy that supports Unilever’s 50 brands in the United States. Since joining Unilever in 2002, Mr. Hernandez has held various positions in Latin America, the U.S. and the U.K. Most recently, Luis was global general counsel for marketing services, based in London. In his current position, Luis’ team is responsible for advising Unilever in all legal matters related to marketing, advertising, innovation, privacy, e-commerce, contracts, media, intellectual property and dispute resolution, across all categories: personal care, home care, foods and refreshments. Luis’ previous international experience includes areas such as mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, compliance, corporate audit, litigation and employment.
