Rita recently joined fast fashion retailer Forever 21 to lead the company’s CCPA compliance and digital advertising efforts. She is a consumer privacy expert who started to think seriously about privacy in 2005 when privacy was not yet sexy or on everyone’s mind, but was clearly essential to consider when counseling the incredibly creative marketing team at Sony Pictures on their cutting edge digital initiatives. In between Sony Pictures and Forever 21, Rita expanded on her regulatory counseling and transactional expertise at Relativity Media, Machinima and Paramount Pictures, where she advised the marketing and advertising teams on influencer marketing, native advertising, branded entertainment, ad tech, market research, e-commerce, video games, esports, intellectual property licensing, kids privacy and GDPR compliance. Before becoming in-house counsel, Rita worked at law firms where her focus was mainly on technology and marketing transactions and start-up counseling. Before she became a lawyer, Rita was a broadcast journalist, content producer and development executive in the motion picture industry. She is a proud Trojan, a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and of the USC Gould School of Law.
