Anna Kakos, managing director, corporate counsel, has worked for Starbucks for 20 years. Ms. Kakos began her career negotiating retail leases and commercial agreements related to the company’s licensed and food services operations. In 2008, she transitioned from supporting store and business development to counseling the marketing, public affairs and entertainment organizations. Anna advises on marketing, promotions, sponsorships, entertainment, social media, intellectual property, innovation and strategic partnerships. She is also responsible for legal marketing review, and drafts and negotiates commercial agreements in support of brand initiatives. Ms. Kakos has led the marketing communications legal team since 2014 and added the global food safety quality and regulatory practice group to her responsibilities in 2016. Anna is a member of the senior leadership teams for law and corporate affairs, and U.S. retail operations. She has served on the Starbucks Pro Bono Committee and participates in the Starbucks Will Clinic to provide estate documents to first responders in commemoration of 9/11. Ms. Kakos has a Bachelor of Science in French from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor from Emory University. Anna is a past board member of the nonprofit organization Families for Effective Autism Treatment of Washington and routinely volunteers for causes related to the special needs community.
