Tim Kersten is CEO of RKD Group, a full-service, multi-channel direct response fundraising agency. In his 40-year career as a direct mail copywriter, strategist, creative director, and agency chief creative officer, he has created thousands of fundraising campaigns for hundreds of diverse nonprofits. Tim is the recipient of multiple DMA ECHO Awards, an International Caples Award, and other honors. Under his leadership, RKD Group has grown to become the largest privately held direct response fundraising agency in the nation, with 200 professionals serving more than 250 clients in 11 nonprofit verticals. One of Tim’s professional heroes is the legendary David Ogilvy, whose well-known dictum, “If it doesn’t sell, it’s not creative,” is the best and only objective standard by which to judge whether fundraising creative is “good,” or not.
