At Thomson Geer, Peter Le Guay specializes in intellectual property and advertising law, with over 20 years’ experience in protecting, maintaining, and enforcing his clients' intellectual property rights and advising on and defending their advertising claims. He is a registered trademark attorney. Mr. Le Guay manages the intellectual property portfolios of many global organizations. He regularly appears in the federal court in relation to trademark disputes or competitor complaints concerning Australian Consumer Law and is experienced in dealing and negotiating with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on behalf of large multinationals and industry-based complaints panels. He regularly advises on, and drafts the terms and conditions for, a range of marketing and promotional devices and provides advice in respect to privacy and spam issues, behavioral advertising, use and transfer of data and electronic direct marketing. Mr. Le Guay is an active member of the International Trademark Association, currently sits on one of its committees, and is a participating member of the Copyright Society of Australia and the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand. He is responsible for the firm's Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance membership and is president-elect of the Asia-Pacific region and a board member.
