Yusuf Mehdi oversees the Xbox One and Xbox 360 ecosystems, as well as Xbox Live and Xbox entertainment properties. He leads product marketing, market and business intelligence, PR/AR, advertising, and brand and relationship marketing for the entire Xbox business. Mr. Mehdi also oversees Microsoft’s media and entertainment group, the IEB strategy and development team, Xbox Live subscriptions and transactions, and IEB business leaders in EMEA and Japan.
Previously, Mr. Mehdi spent 10 years in Microsoft’s Online Services Division with responsibilities including overall P&L ownership for the division, engineering for search, portal, and advertising platforms, product marketing, advertising sales, media programming, and strategic partnerships. He led a 1,800-person engineering team for Microsoft’s entry into search and online advertising. He also led the marketing rollout of Bing and played a lead role in the strategic search alliance with Yahoo! that now collectively accounts for approximately 30 percent of all U.S. searches.
Mr. Mehdi began his career at Microsoft in 1992. Before joining Microsoft, he was a product manager at Reuters Group PLC. Mr. Mehdi earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from the University of Washington.
