As VP of Donor Development at Special Olympics, Inc. (SOI), Shira Mitchell leads direct response, street canvassing, and planned giving fundraising initiatives. Prior to her time at SOI, she worked at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum where she was responsible for acquiring, stewarding, and soliciting members through direct response channels. In 2018, Shira received the DMA Nonprofit Federation (DMANF) Rising Leader Award, recognizing achievement, innovation, and leadership in the fundraising community. She serves on the DMANF Advisory Council and is a former DMAW Board Member. Shira holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the George Washington University. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Shira currently lives in northern Virginia with her husband, young daughter, and dog.
