Mark Penn is the chairman and CEO of MDC Partners and President of The Stagwell Group.
Mr. Penn’s career spans 40 years in market research, advertising, public relations, polling, and consulting. Previously, he held senior executive positions at Microsoft, including EVP and chief strategy officer. Mr. Penn also co-founded and served as CEO of Penn, Schoen & Berland, which he sold to WPP, where he became CEO of Burson-Marsteller.
A globally recognized strategist, Mr. Penn has advised corporate and political leaders around the world. Mr. Penn oversaw President Bill Clinton’s reelection campaign and his move to the political center, devised then Senator Hillary Clinton’s successful “Upstate strategy,” created Tony Blair’s “Forward not Back” campaign in 2005 and led the “3AM” ad in the 2008 Presidential primaries. Mr. Penn has also authored The Wall Street Journal and New York Times bestselling book, Microtrends: The Small Forces Behind Tomorrow’s Big Changes and its sequel Microtrends Squared: The New Forces Driving Today’s Big Disruptions.
