Alberto Perlman is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Zumba Fitness, LLC, the largest branded dance-fitness company in the world. The global lifestyle brand fuses fitness, entertainment and culture into a dance-party experience and has more than 15 million weekly participants in 200,000 locations across 180-plus countries. He oversees day-to-day operations, manages brand and product development, and negotiates strategic partnerships with fitness clubs and organizations around the world.
Since its inception in 2001, the Zumba® program has grown from a single class taught in a Miami gym into a global movement and expansive lifestyle brand. Under Mr. Perlman's leadership, the company experienced growth of nearly 800 percent from 2009-2012 after expanding internationally. He has forged partnerships between Zumba Fitness and brands that include Kellogg's, The American Heart Association®, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the NBA and fitness chains around the world, including 24 Hour Fitness, Club Med, and Curves. He also facilitated a collaboration with Majesco Entertainment to create Zumba Fitness video games that top charts around the globe; to date, over 10 million have been sold. Prior to founding Zumba, Perlman was founder and CEO of internet-incubator Spydre Labs and also worked as a consultant for the Mitchell Madison Group. Perlman earned his bachelor's degree in business from Babson College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
