Hal Poret is a senior vice president at ORC International. He has designed and analyzed over 700 surveys to measure consumer perception, opinion, and behavior with respect to advertising, trademarks, trade dress, websites, products, packaging, and other issues. He also regularly designs and conducts studies to test for whether there is substantiation for advertising claims, such as taste tests and product use tests.
Mr. Poret has published on the topic of consumer surveys in various publications and has been a presenter on consumer surveys at legal, advertising, and intellectual property conferences. He has conducted surveys for and appeared as an expert witness in connection with numerous NAD cases, as well as FTC, FCC, ITC, and TTAB cases. He has also given expert testimony involving surveys in over 60 U.S. District Court litigations concerning false advertising, trademark, and other claims, including cases such as Apple v. Samsung, the NCAA Student-Athlete Name-Likeness litigation, and Gap v. Gap Adventures.
