Valdir Rocha is the national practice group leader for the Intellectual Property Practice Group. He is recognized globally for his expertise in helping companies protect and defend their intellectual property rights. He has advised many premier global and Latin American corporations, as well as internationally recognized brands including SC Johnson, Pfizer, Schering Plough, Nokia, Suzuki, Sandvik, Tag Heuer, ZTE, Vale, Qualcomm, Fila, Reebok, the NFL, the NBA, Wyndham Hotels, Masterfoods/Mars, and Marriott Hotels.
For more than three decades Mr. Rocha has provided clients with business-focused advice on registration, licensing and litigation of trademarks, industrial designs, patents, utility models, software, domain names, technology transfer agreements, and franchising agreements. He has also regularly represented clients in matters related to trade names, unfair competition, trade secrets, and other transactional matters associated with intellectual property rights.
Mr. Rocha focuses his practice on advertising law, which includes the clearance of commercials, advertising campaigns, promotions, and sweepstakes, representing world-class brands that include Microsoft, McDonald’s, Facebook, General Electric, Visa, and Sony. Mr. Rocha has been elected vice-chair of the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance for a three-year period starting on January 2013.
