Brett Scharback serves as vice president and general counsel of the Chicago Cubs baseball club. In this role, Mr. Scharback is responsible for overseeing the Cubs’ legal matters, as well as those of its parent and affiliate organizations. This includes supervising in-house attorneys, managing litigation and outside counsel, monitoring corporate governance, negotiating contracts, employment matters, joint ventures, insurance and risk management. He is also responsible for compliance with plans, laws, rules and regulations applicable to the Cubs’ operations, and those of its parent and affiliate entities. Prior to joining the Cubs, Brett served as vice president, deputy general counsel, chief compliance officer and assistant secretary for International Speedway Corporation, a publicly-held promoter of NASCAR and other motorsports events. At ISC, Mr. Scharback was responsible for the day-to-day management of the legal department, securities law and other compliance matters, litigation and a variety of transactional matters such as real estate, project finance and project development. He began his career practicing law in Washington, D.C. with the law firm of Baker Botts LLP. Brett earned his Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of New Hampshire.
