Monica J. Stover is an attorney in the Grand Rapids office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and is a member of the Intellectual Property Department and the Advertising & Marketing Law Practice Group. Ms. Stover focuses her practice on advertising and marketing compliance, trademark, copyright, trade dress, trade secret, and unfair competition issues. Monica regularly counsels clients on issues related to brand protection, advertising claims development, substantiation, and defense. In addition, she has experience assisting in litigation involving intellectual property issues. Before joining Barnes & Thornburg, Ms. Stover worked in-house as a law clerk in the Legal Services Group of Bissell Homecare, Inc., where she assisted the general counsel on transactional, policy, and litigation matters and assisted the Intellectual Property Group in the maintenance of the company’s intellectual property portfolio and related patent, trademark, advertising, internet and domain name matters. Ms. Stover earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of Michigan and her J.D. cum laude from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School-Grand Rapids. Ms. Stover also co-founded “GRIP” the Grand Rapids Intellectual Property Women’s Forum, which holds quarterly events for women involved in IP in the Grand Rapids area to learn about and discuss various Intellectual Property topics.
