Mike Thyen’s organization is responsible for strategic sourcing and procurement supervision of more than 80 affiliates in Lilly’s emerging markets business unit, with specific focus on China, Brazil, Mexico, Latin America, Russia, Turkey, and Korea. From 2000 to mid-2013, Mr. Thyen was director of global procurement for marketing and sales, with responsibilities for strategic sourcing and relationship management of advertising agencies, market research, media buying, marketing communications, exhibits and sponsorships, and other marketing consulting services suppliers. Mr. Thyen joined Lilly in 1982 and previously had responsibilities in various sales and marketing management assignments, including sales, market research, corporate accounts, brand management, new product planning, business-to-business segment management, and public affairs. Mr. Thyen received a B.S.B.A. in finance from Xavier University and an M.B.A. from Indiana University. He is also chair of the Advertising and Financial Management Committee of the ANA.
