Uri Weinstok is a partner of BLP, a law firm based in Costa Rica with nine offices in five Central American countries. A recognized consumer protection and IP expert, he is also the former chairman of the Costa Rican Competition Authority and an international consultant for the World Bank and for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Mr. Weinstok’s publication on consumer protection, the Handbook of Good Commercial Practices Towards Consumers, was adopted by the Costa Rican Consumer Protection Authority as their official guidebook for the private sector. His practice areas include advertising, marketing and promotional law; consumer protection; competition/antitrust; data protection; unfair competition; trademark prosecution and litigation; and intellectual property enforcement and anti-counterfeiting. Uri has been recognized as a leading lawyer in his practice areas by prestigious publications such as The Legal 500, Chambers and Latin Lawyer. Mr. Weinstok was also named as one of the 40 under 40most successful professionals by Costa Rica’s main financial newspaper, El Financiero. Uri graduated with honors from the Universidad de Costa Rica (1996) and obtained a postgraduate diploma in competition law from King’s College, University of London (2001).
