“Road to the ANA Multicultural Marketing and Diversity Conference…” with Janine Martella

November 5, 2015

By Janine Martella, director of committees and conferences at ANA

We’re just a few days away from the 17th annual ANA Multicultural Marketing and Diversity Conference, November 8–10 in Miami, and we have a great event planned!

The client-side perspective is always “front and center” at ANA events and this conference is the perfect example of that. This year’s sessions will be presented by some of the top multicultural marketers in the industry from top brands that include Allstate, Denny’s, Kaiser-Permanente, Moët Hennessy, and Wells Fargo, to name a few.

I’ve had the great pleasure of working closely with some of this year’s presenters, and Apoorva Gandhi, vice president of multicultural affairs at Marriott International, is one of them. In fact, last year Apoorva presented at our first ever break out session on the People with Disabilities category. This year Apoorva will be presenting on the main stage to share his most recent multicultural story.

I recently had an opportunity to catch up with Apoorva. Here are his thoughts regarding multicultural marketing and the upcoming conference.

  • What is your experience with the ANA’s multicultural marketing and diversity efforts?
Speaking at the 2014 conference about Marriott International’s holistic approach with multicultural communities. In 2014, I partnered with industry leaders to discuss our work with People with Disabilities.

  • What are you speaking about at the 2015 ANA Multicultural Marketing and Diversity Conference?
Looking forward to speaking about ‘How cultural competence helps your bottom line’ and Marriott’s holistic approach with multicultural communities.

  • What do you see in the future for multicultural marketing?
Inclusive and culturally competent campaigns as a normal course of business.

Join us, the Where Hip Hop Lives team and Hot 97’s hip-hop icon DJ Funkmaster Flex, who will be in the house spinning LIVE during the Mix and Mingle reception on Sunday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m.! Following this is the 15th annual ANA Multicultural Excellence Awards ceremony at 8:00 p.m.
