ANA Files Comment Opposing Changes to Marketing Mail Content Proposed by U.S. Postal Service

October 22, 2018

On Monday the Association of National Advertisers distributed a press release regarding it’s filing of comments in opposition to proposed changes to marketing mail content proposed by the U.S. Postal Service. The proposed change would “exclude any plastic cards, magnets, cloth, merchandise, or any other such content from being included in any letter- or flat-shaped marketing mail.”

ANA has come out against this proposed rule due to the negative impacts it would have on consumers and business including “destroying the customer’s ability to choose mailing options that are presently available” and diminishing the ability of businesses to “find and engage new customers.” Furthermore, the rule change would have a highly negative impact on nonprofit organization that “send innovative marketing pieces to entice new donors to engage and give to charitable causes.”
