II. ELI LILLY: DEVELOPING A STRONG SUPPLIER DIVERSITY STRATEGY (11:15AM – 12:15PM)
Supplier diversity is an important initiative for many companies. Achieving the level of supplier diversity engagement your company desires may be a challenge, however. Eli Lilly and Company has been devoted to supplier diversity development for many years and has focused specific efforts and programs to achieve their annual goals. In this presentation, Tatum Gipe, director of procurement optimization and supplier diversity at Eli Lilly and Company, will provide an overview of their diversity strategy, and the important role supplier diversity development plays in achieving Lilly's goals. She will share the journey and approach taken by Lilly to nurture small and diverse businesses and optimize the innovation and relationships with those businesses to have a positive impact with suppliers, customers, and management alike.

In this session, Ryan Young, manager, strategic sourcing and procurement at Farmers Insurance, will discuss how to overcome common obstacles and leverage a partnership with marketing to ensure procurement delivers value. We will discuss how to develop a value-added partnership with corporate procurement and marketing with your organization. Through collaboration, early engagement, and planning, business units can experience increased value through improved vendor relationships, enhanced service levels, reinvested savings, and market intelligence.
