In 2018, Southwest Airlines became the first domestic airline to implement a long-term social influencer program, The Southwest Storytellers. The program focused in on curating a diverse and passionate group of Southwest advocates and in 2019, the program evolved into a nationwide search and contest for the next crop of influencers where thousands entered. Southwest Airlines aligned themselves with brand advocates and leveraged them strategically for content curation and distribution supporting their +100 destinations.
