Brand Activation Legal Committee: July 2018

For July’s meeting, Kilpatrick Townsend’s presentation will include a federal regulatory update; a discussion of recent state attorney general activity, false advertising class actions, and Lanham Act cases; and a review of recent NAD, ERSP and CARU cases.  Presenting will be Barry Benjamin, Ty Lord, Laura Miller and Joe Reynolds.

Barry M. Benjamin, Partner, Chairs Kilpatrick Townsend’s Advertising and Marketing group, and is a partner in the firm’s New York office. His practice focuses on advertising, technology, and privacy law in the areas of advice and counseling, contract negotiation, regulatory defense, and litigation. He represents clients small and large, from multinational corporations to start-up ventures.

Ty Lord, Partner, specializes in trademark and advertising counseling and litigation. She represents brand owners across a broad spectrum of industries including sports and intimate apparel, consumer products, and hospitality. Early in her career, Ms. Lord devoted part of her practice to prosecuting and litigating patents and, for a brief period, served as an assistant district attorney. She also served as interim in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 consumer products company.

Laura Miller, Counsel, helps brand owners build and protect their brands domestically and abroad. She focuses her practice on branding, advertising, and brand protection and enforcement. Laura has particular experience with the apparel, food and beverage, life sciences, logistics and software industries.

Joe Reynolds, Associate, focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation. Joe also has experience working on insurance coverage and recovery claims and litigation.
