Brand Activation Legal Committee: July 2019

This event is over.

For July’s meeting, Kilpatrick Townsend’s presentation will include a federal regulatory update; a discussion of recent state attorney general activity, false advertising class actions, and Lanham Act cases; and a review of recent NAD, ERSP and CARU cases.  Presenting will be Barry Benjamin, Laura Miller, Nancy Stagg, and Bryan Wolin.

Barry M. Benjamin, Chairs Kilpatrick Townsend’s Advertising and Marketing group and is the Managing Partner of the firm's New York office. His practice focuses on advertising, privacy, and technology transactions, in areas where traditional and digital media converge, and where evolving distribution platforms and data gathering tools push the boundaries of intellectual property rights, privacy, technology, and content.

Laura Miller, Partner, helps brand owners build and protect their brands domestically and abroad. She focuses her practice on branding, advertising, and brand protection and enforcement. Laura has particular experience with the apparel, food and beverage, life sciences, logistics and software industries.

Nancy Stagg, Partner, skillfully and efficiently solves her clients’ litigation problems – especially the toughest ones that keep them up at night. While remarkably successful in trial and appellate courts when it’s needed, Ms. Stagg’s greatest strength is in quickly sizing up the case at hand and developing an effective strategy to marshal the law and the evidence to her clients’ best advantage. Her genuine caring about her clients’ businesses, as well as her competitive nature, ensure clients get her best efforts – always. In addition to her substantial trial, arbitration and appellate experience, Ms. Stagg enjoys counseling corporate legal departments and business owners in the most effective ways to avoid potential litigation.

Bryan Wolin, Associate, focuses his practice on advertising, copyright, and trademark law. His experience in advertising law includes advertising disputes before the National Advertising Division (NAD), litigation of advertising claims in federal courts, and advising clients on compliance with the NAD, FDA, FTC, and other applicable standards and guidelines. He has also litigated trademark disputes in federal courts around the country. As a dispute resolution professional, Bryan has training and experience in litigation, negotiation, and mediation.
