Government Relations Committee Meeting - Draft Privacy Legislation

Last week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee released a discussion draft of a federal privacy bill, the American Data Privacy and Protection Act. The draft is being circulated by Committee Chairman Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Committee Ranking Member Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), and Senate Commerce Committee Ranking Member Roger Wicker (R-MS). Also last week, Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell (D-WA) also released draft legislation on privacy.

Since the drafts were released, ANA has been actively speaking with members of both committees to highlight provisions in the drafts that would adversely impact advertising and marketing. The purpose of this call is to update ANA members on those discussions, and to answer questions about the future of federal privacy legislation this year.
